Do you suffer
from chronic back pain, including lumbar
(lower back) pain,
muscular
pain and sciatica?
I invite you to try zen shiatsu, a form
of healing bodywork based on the principles
of traditional Eastern medicine.
Typically, my patients
experience increased
mobility and decreased pain after a single
treatment.
Depending on the diagnosis, a course of
treatments can, over time, help to strengthen
the lower back, ease joint and muscular
pain, and increase overall wellness and
energy.
Patients with lower back pain find my
stretching and "passive yoga"
techniques particularly beneficial and
enjoyable.
Lifestyle and dietary coaching are always
a part of your continuing care.
A Holistic
Eastern Model
In the traditional
Eastern model, pain, including back pain,
is seen as the result of energy blockages,
stagnation, or depletion. Over time, these
imbalances may manifest as pain
of increasing severity.
Some pain is fixed
and severe; other types move around the
body; others are characterized by heat
and swelling; still others by heaviness.
Your specific experience
of pain, plus your unique history, will
suggest the correct shiatsu treatment
plan for you.

As a qualified
zen shiatsu therapist, I work with the
body's energetic channels, or meridians,
to clear imbalances and help
your body restore itself.
Shiatsu is often called
"acupuncture without needles",
and is quite different from conventional
massage: think of it as energetic medicine.
The physical techniques employed include
pressure, stretching, and various manipulations,
as well as energetic work.
Your treatment, or series
of treatments, will be designed to treat
the underlying cause of your pain, and
to gradually and effectively relieve
your symptoms.
Zen shiatsu treats the whole person: body,
mind, and spirit. It is gentle
but powerful, non-invasive, natural and
drug-free.
I look forward
to working with you!

Zen
Shiatsu Quick Facts
Zen
shiatsu is very different
from traditional massage
think of it as energetic
medicine, based on the principles
of TCM (traditional Chinese medicine).
In practical terms, zen
shiatsu involves deep breathing,
stretches, and finger and palm
pressure, as well as pressure
with elbows and knees when appropriate.
Touch ranges from gentle to powerful
always within the patient's
range of comfort.
Disease
is a result of imbalance
in the body. If your natural resistance
is high, disease will not invade.
Zen shiatsu can help increase
your natural resistance and
immunity.
